Outbound Riviera 4 Person Picnic Set (Brown, small) Review
I spent plenty of time comparing picnic baskets and backpacks before choosing this one.There was a similar one with a couple decent reviews for 1/3 the cost (I spent $70 for this with shipping) but I chose this one because I needed it to arrive sooner.
Unpacking it, first of all, I was disappointed to see it isn't leather. I was hoping it was based on the picture, but it's just a rather dull shade of canvas.
Inside, the 4 plates are made from number 6 plastic - which is probably not safe for eating from. The cups are #5, which is usually considered to be safe.
The napkins were quite cheap squares of cotton with serged edges. They became very wrinkly after I washed them. They're not lovely at all.
The blanket, which in no way matches the napkins, is the saving grace of this whole package. It has a vinyl-type backing which will be so helpful here in Oregon where even on nice days the grass is likely to be damp.
We take our special family picnic tomorrow so I can't comment yet on how the whole system actually functions, but I'd say that if you're drawn to this product you would probably be happiest if you wait for it to be discounted.
